3 Event Cache Games

Pizza, geocaching, and games! A fellow Instagram-geocacher, @emilierene, decided to take a road trip through my area, and I wanted to host a fun event for her to attend with her parents, as well as the other cachers in town. Since the event was set at supper time, we chose a pizza place for the location. I started googling “geocaching games,” looking for a fun activity to do while waiting for our food, and I couldn’t find very many. So, I took matters into my own hands! I searched for bachelorette and birthday party games, tailored them for geocachers, and presto change-o: three new geocaching games entered the world. Find the three new games’ PDFs at the bottom of this post.

Prizes were my next step. I’ve given out containers and trackables, which are always fun to win, but I get the feeling they aren’t everyone’s first picks around here. Thanks to Etsy and ThanksForTheHide’s Shop, I found these customize-able keychains. I ordered three canvas and three black keychains; they all had “North Dakota Geocacher” on one side and J.R. R. Tolkien’s quote on the other. I highly recommend Jim (aka @ThanksForTheHide). His customer service, items’ quality, and packaging were all fantastic! Obviously, I kept one for myself; it’s only one of six made!

A sign was the only thing missing, since I wanted to cue cachers to the right table. This piece of paper served as our log sheet too. Stories were shared, games played, pizza consumed, pathtags swapped, and pictures taken. We had a great time. I’ve always been a rather shy person, but when it comes to geocachers, I easily fit into the conversation. Every cacher I’ve met is genuinely kind and has great taste in their hobby choices, so the talk flows naturally.

What geocaching games have you played? Do you have any tips on unique prizes for an event? I’d love to hear!

Thanks for reading and keep exploring!

P.S. My husband and I enjoyed our favorite: pepperoni and mushroom stuffed crust. What’s your favorite pizza?
